The Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) is developing the onshore and offshore infrastructure required to transport CO₂ from carbon capture projects across Teesside and the Humber—collectively known as the East Coast Cluster—to permanent storage beneath the North Sea. We are proud to have collaborated with DESNZ and the wider industry in developing the CCS Network Code and now also to be one of the original members of the Modification Panel.
The Network Code sets out the commercial, operational and technical interfaces between Transportation & Storage Companies (T&SCo’s) and Network Users. As the UK seeks to scale this vital industry, the Network Code will underpin the continued development of safe, reliable and efficient CCS Networks. The modification panel will have a key role to play in this by ensuring the Network Code gets updated with care and due diligence, as lessons get learned from the Track-1 CCS projects and plans to expand the CCS industry to new user types and new clusters progress.
As the holder of the UK’s first Carbon Dioxide Transport and Storage Licence, NEP has been leading the initial development of the Modification Panel, appointment of Gemserv as Network Code Secretary and development of the Network Code website. We are delighted to see the website go live, thereby making the Network Code publicly accessible to all interested stakeholders. We strongly encourage all prospective capture projects and T&SCo’s – both in the UK and internationally – to engage with us.
